Default Alternator Replacement

Ok so this hidden nut on the back side of the alternator, how in the world do you get to that? Is it in fact a 10mm nut? Its like my 10mm socket will not go on the nut because of the "U" shape of that bracket it is attached to. Anybody have any pointers of how to get this off? Would it be easier to just take the stud off that the nut is screwed to or it is probably the opposite thread?!? Thanks for any help!!!

I'd not worry about that one; I'd remove the nut holding that SAME bracket on the ALT from off the engine block instead. Though both are hard to get, the one off of the motor is somewhat easier to get to.

Yeah that was the one I was trying to get to. Busted my hands up and then just decided to take it to the dealer to fix. $700 is well worth it.

Imagine the tools you could have purchased for the $500 difference between a DIY job and that Lexus bill.
