So how exactly does this "auto tune" work?

Is it basically tricking the computer into thinking the weather is cooler, air is denser ect?

So the ECU will switch over to a more aggressive map, advance the timing, run a little bit leaner ect.

Kinda like a more sophisticated version of those so called "ebay chips" that you use to fool the ECU?

No. VR claims that there are higher performance map(s) in the ECU and that their device can access and apply it (them).

I'm staying extremely skeptical for the time being..

I spoke to vivid. They basically said I could return the unit and get a full refund prior to 30 days. I'm with the guys above. How long does the tune hold. I can't find any reviews for lexus online. A lot in vw and Porsche and it seems to be legit. But turbo vs na comes to mind. I built a g37s and never got 20 whp numbers from the mods. Another 10plus would be good but thI'd statest 20hp and 40tq. I'm not completely sold

Interesting..... I wonder if our cars ever use these "high performance" maps in any given conditions...

If not then I wonder why they were loaded in the ECU in the first place when they're never used.

I'm a bit skeptical that somehow VR stumbled upon a way to enable these super maps...

I really hope it's true though, I would love to buy it for my IS-F if it really did work.

I would so buy it if it works on the IS-F, right now we are getting conflicting information on whether it's compatible or not..

I've noticed simply resetting the ECU by disconnecting the battery seems to make the car more responsive. Could this be whats causing the change in dyno results instead of the chip? I mean maybe car's ECU had learned to drive somewhat slow, they tested it, then applied flash reset ECU, he drove hard for a week, and presto great dyno results

I believe the ECU is adapive, that's why the take a week or several hundred miles.

I know that's my point, maybe he just drove it harder the past week, then he did before the first dyno. Could that explain the gains?

I am a bit skeptical about this maybe the throttle response and faster shifting but I don’t see this making all that power. Hopefully someone can explain this better and we can get a real independent test.
So, it only works with automatic transmissions?

If that is for real, take my money.

I'm also skeptical to dynos by manufacturers, but this car could use a bump IMO.

So do we have any Club members from Chandler AZ? If yes, see if they would flash your car and dyno before and after. That could get them lots of sales....... or ...........

That doesn't make sense. Resetting the ECU will just change the throttle response and shift points. You won't magically have more power if you drive your car harder.
