Default Question about the Ebay tail lights...

Hi Friends,

About to order my Ebay tail lights for my 06 350. But I have a few questions:

1. Does anyone know which vendor/seller/link to order from where it's a plug and play install and no tapping required? I read on some of the threads that some had it plug and play, others had to splice and tap into the wires to make them work. If yours was plug and play, then can you please share the right seller/link please?

2. If you have them on, can you comment on their looks, quality and etc?

3. Can someone please point me to the best DIY for doing them?

Thank you in advance for your help!

I have not done this, but a quick search - took less than a minute, turned up this:

Hi Bud, beautiful pictures! Did you order from the same vendor? Do you have a DIY you followed?

I had them on my 06'. I think the people who had problems had an 09' or newer. I liked them and they looked good to me. Here are some pics.

That I don't know but maybe if you look on you tube you'll see how to change a tail light bulb in an IS250? It's pretty easy. Just allow yourself a couple hours (plenty of time to go slow) and some socket wrenches. Anyone can do it.

Yeah, I got them for 09 and they are NOT plug and play. You have to hack up the connector to get it to work. I ended up soldering the outer light connections, and I still have to do it for the inners (totally forgot about that - I hacked the plug up to get it to work for now since i got lazy). They do look awesome though, so worth the upgrade.

those ebay tail lights usually made in taiwan or china and u want to seal it with clear silicon around where u think water would sip in... but that depends if u live in a rainy area... i had aftermarket lights b4 not on my IS350 but other cars i had and it fogs up or water get leak in and turned into a fish tank...

I didn't have much luck with a DIY video, if you happen to run into one bud, please post it. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I personally like the 09 tail lights... a lot. Just getting these because I hear it's a pain to put on the 09s in an 06? How do you like the difference between your factory 09 vs. Ebay stuff. Not necessarily quality, but looks and etc?

That's good advice, friend. Not sure if I have seen much of the leaking complaints on these things yet?
