Exclamation Power steering failure. Need to replace alternator. How?

My power steering went out on me yesterday. Started the car and the P/S light was on. Upon digging through the forum and trying multiple "fixes" to no avail, I decided to head over to Advanced Auto and have them do a battery check. According to their test (and the test of another store for good measure) the alternator is bad. So, I picked one up and now I need to replace it. I've read that it is fairly simple, so I'd like to do it myself if I can, but I am by no means a mechanic. Is there a guide of some sort on how to change it. As far as I know its just a few bolts, the serpentine belt and a wire or two. Any further directions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Also, in another DIY others stated you'd want to chop off a stud that a portion of the wiring harness attaches to; but I managed to pound onto that stud a small socket and just removed it from the block. Without it, you're able to easier maneuver the alternator out from in-between the block and the radiator.

I removed my alternator without having to remove that stud. If I remember correctly when I was positioning to pull it out I let that stud go in between one of the slots in the alternator housing.

^Yeah, you probably could still get around it. It just took me a minute to get a socket on it and racheted it out. Besides that one lower bracket that attaches to the block, it really isn't a difficult item to replace really.
