Default Custom Audio Install (price check)

So I have been quoted from a shop by me for the following items to be installed into my IS350,

2x jl 10w3 subs
1x xd800/8 amp (for speakers)
1x xd1000/1 amp (for subs)
1x Audison Bit Ten Processor

Custom boxes, Dynamatting etc

Quoted for $3000, out of curiosity does this sound like a fair deal, I checked around for all the parts and normally would attempt this type of thing myself minus the custom boxes/dynamatting, and it seems to add up to around $2500 or so, so + labor $3000 to me sounds like a good deal, but then again I can be dumb.

Any insight would be appreciated,

also if this is posted in the wrong area please move it, but being on the newer side I didn't quite know where to put it.

thanks.

I think it's a lil high for "off the Shelf" parts but I'll let the big guns way in on this.

Sounds fair. The Audison is a nice product and great quality. If you've added up the prices of that equipment and came out with that figure and add in the amount of labor hours, then you're probably fine. Most shops charge $90/HR for labor. You can ask how many hours they plan to estimate on this job. It'll sound good. Here is what I did in my ride since you're a JL fan like I am.

What kind of door speakers are you going with? Mine is about that price but with door speakers included and dynamat around the door area.

doesn't sound like he's getting any door speakers. I went with the Hertz Mille 3 way separates and Hertz 4" center channel.

Correct, no other speakers would be included, am I correct to think if I wanted to upgrade the rest of the speakers I could pretty much just swap them out, or would I have to run completely new lines, from a tuning perspective I like to believe I could figure out how to re-tune the new ones once swapped. Normally I would do this type of thing myself for the subs and such too but I just don't have the time these days to throw at ripping the car apart to run lines and such.

Thanks for all the replies, I contacted the shop and stated that once I get my finances in order I will contact them in the future to set up a appointment. I was also told that they are willing to work on the end price a tad as well if it ends up in a sure fire sale for them.

If they are a first rate auto stereo installation and setup operation who knows what they are doing, that's actually a pretty good price. If it's Best Buy cut and glue, or equivalent, run (don't walk) away!

Some people change the wiring up front like I did. Usually only audio files do that.

Well to my knowledge they are considered a first rate shop as far as Minnesota is concerned, we don't have a whole heck of a lot of options here, unless I am completely forgetting about someplace, luckily we do have several custom exhaust shops around the area that I will also be visiting soon, one even claims they can make custom CAI's but I have yet to inquire further about that. Once I get everything set up I will produce a build thread as that seems to be the correct thing to do when many mods are being added.

Thanks.

That sounds pretty reasonable to me. I just went with 2 12w3's and a XD 1000 with a custom enclosure and mine came out to $2,000 from a very good experienced local shop. I'm gonna do door speakers and amps in a couple of months !!! These are my first JL's but I think they bump nicely!! You'll love your setup!! I swear I think it sounds better as the speakers and Amp break in too!!!

Yea they break in around 6 hours of play time and they can slap pretty hard. Did that price include dynamat as well?

No dynamat! I was gonna add it but they said I really didn't need it! My salesman had some 10w6's that bumped and he didn't have any and there was no rattles on the outside so I skipped it !!
