Default is revving an Is350 to 6.5k rpm bad?

Is it bad to floor it to redline? Does it upshift on its own in sportsmod, if i don't upshift on paddle shifters. If I was too upshift would I need to upshift around 5k rpm because theres a 1.5 second lag between shifts.

I am just kidding. The paddle shifters are utterly useless you need to downshift quickly to accelerate fast because the ecu is bad at predicting that. It is perfectly fine to redline as long as the engine is properly warmed up. You can hold the car at a high rpm if you wanted to for whatever reason.

every car is equipped with a rev-limiter so you can rev as high as the car will allow you safely. If the car allows you to go above 7-8k, than there is something very wrong

Speaking of flooring it roughly, my mechanic revved my mint 95 sc3 pretty hard both in park and in drive for about 10 blocks to "relearn" the Sc. It turns out, the Sc was mimicking the previous owner's driving style which was very slow, tepid and pedestrian. My mechanic literally had to rev it high on purpose while in park, keeping it there for just a few seconds though and then in Drive, , he kept it in high revs for about 10 blocks straight after installing my ALT. Perfect time I guess since the ECU was reset for the install? it was cool taking a testdrive with my mechanic and seeing this high-rev action done while sitting in the "other" front seat and not the usual driver's seat. IT felt faster and more impressive for some reason. btw, the car drives fine after he did that process but now I see why so many cars lead and it is almost solely predicated on how hard you drive a car!

I have gone though a dozen or so track days in my IS350 keeping it at or near the redline. Probably 1200 track miles or so. Still purrs like a kitten and have not had one issue at all with the car. The are made well and can take a beating.

My car daily sees redline; helps keep the cats cleared out.
