Rear end clicking under hard acceleration
#4
My car has 20k miles now. It's been doing it ever since I bought it new. I seriously doubt it would have damaged cv boots straight from the factory. Lug nuts are tight.
Does anyone know if it might just be the VDC or traction control causing the clicking sound under hard acceleration from a standstill?

If it happens under load, and you hear/feel it under your seat near the rear seat; I am about 95% positive that its the driveshaft yoke... When my friend and I built his G8, the yoke would dry up under its grease seal and click kind of how an axle would. You can usually re-grease them and they will be fine after; at least from my experience do it on the go.
Its an easy fix but does require disassembly of the driveshaft. I've never done it on an IS though so I cant really say if there is a difference between the lexus and GM drive shafts. If you can get under the car and see if there is any rust around the drive shaft joint, i can bet thats the issue

This post is pretty old but if your still wondering, maybe its the rear winshield. I hear that there is a tab under the roof lining that rubs up against the rear windshield and makes a creaking/clicking noise that drives me insane. I hear you can shave the tab off. Maybe thats the sound?
