Default Please help!

I have a 2006 Lexus is350 with 90000 miles. It makes a grinding sound when accelerating, and gets louder at higher rpms. I took it to the dealership to get it diagnosed, but when they took it for a test drive they couldn't hear the sound. It's because it only starts making the noise after I drive it for about a half an hour. It's really annoying me, and hoping that it's nothing serious. The noise is quite at lower rpms but when I floor the gas pedal, the noise gets louder at higher rpms. Can't really explain the sound too well, it's a quite grinding sound. Please help ASAP, need to fix the problem before it starts getting cold here in Canada, thanks

Do you have any mods on your car?

It could be the waterpump or the cam gear seal.

When the dealer inspected it, they told me that I have a small leak from the water pump, could that sound be actually coming from it? It doesn't really make sense, why would the water pump make that noise when it has a small leak?

When the bearing is going bad on a water pump, it will start making a grinding noise. You need to replace that water pump also if you have a small leak.

I agree, start with replacing the water pump ASAP! Don't let your baby burn up due to lack of adequate coolant flow.

Thanks for all of your help, I'm definitely going to change my water pump ASAP. Has anyone changed the water pump on their is350? The dealership told me that it will be a 5 hour job, and that's going to cost me a lot of money. Just wondering if anyone has changed it before, and if it's easy to do it on your own. Or if anyone has pictures or step by step directions to change the water pump, would be great to have. Thanks

5 hour job for a certified Lexus mechanic? That's BS lol. I did mines in 3 hours with little experience. I wrote a DIY on here, just search for DIY water pump.

I found your DIY, and it's really good. Thanks a lot, you just saved me $1000. It seems pretty simple after reading your DIY, I'm really shocked now that the dealer charges 4.9 hours, and it's $200 per hour where I live

Let us know if that replacement WP fixes your issue. When removing the pump, wiggle the pulley and the impeller blades to check for play vs the new one. Also look for signs that the blades have been touching the block due to excessive play.
