FIGS? please elaborate

FIGS front LCA bushings
'11+ IS F Steering ECU

Oh wait... that is what I have done and/or plan on doing

These cars have big, soft bushings on the back end of the front lower control arm. These soft bushings make the toe change dynamically (especially when you hit the brakes and turn at the same time). The result of this is that the steering precision is reduced and the inside edges of the front tires wear out prematurely. Replacing the bushings with FIGS/Superpro bushings reduces these issues. There is absolutely no downside to this mod, other than the cost.

^ both the same item, but they are much easier to install if you buy them pre-installed in the brackets

Muchos gracias!

But $360.. Ouch. Any other option like do they go on sale or
another manufacturer?

Unfortunately there isn't another option. The "regulars" like Energy Suspension and Prothane don't make a thing for the 2IS. FIGS sources these bushings from Superpro, which is based in Aurstralia.

$360 is for new brackets, going with used brackets knocks $15 off the price, and you will get $60 back when you return your old brackets. I looked at it this way: the $300 I spent is expensive, but if I wear out two sets of front tires in 1/2 as many miles as they should last (which is not uncommon on a 2IS), that would have paid for the bushings.

According to those links, its $150 off if you use the OEM brackets,
not $15

$360 is the cost for bushings pressed in to new OEM brackets
$345 is the cost for bushings pressed in to used OEM brackets
With either of these two options you get $60 back when you return your old brackets to FIGS.
$210 is the price for just the bushings, this way you have to find a shop to press the bushings into your brackets, which has been challenging for some people, and also creates more downtime.

Slow reply, I missed this.

Yes, regular driving wears out the inside edge on a 2IS. Check random cars in a parking lot. Chances are the inside edges will be much more worn than the outside. Or check and see if the front tire brand/model matches the rear, the majority of owners are going to throw the cheapest crap rubber they can find on the front of the car when they see cords on the front inside.

Recently drove this. Excellent car. Loved it. I wish the price was a little more affordable. But a great car for its demographic.
