Default Lexus just replaced pistons on my 2006 IS 250!

My 2006 IS 250 died at 50,000 miles! Wont start, so I called lexus and have them check. So with that said, check engine light is on, and battery died after 5 years. So lexus did a quick fixed by cleaning the carbon build on top of the pistons due to direct injection, so then it start, but idle was really rough, don't like the feeling of IS 250 with rough idling. But just for temporary so that we can drive the car til the new pistons arrive. Waited at least 1 month for the Pistons due to back order, so Lexus called me last Monday to drop the car so that they can install the new pistons. Does anybody here had the same issue, let me hear how's your 250 after installing the new pistons? Is this will only last for another 50,000 miles? If that's the case that's a rip because my warranty will be over! Gaddamn!!!!

We have a member and a friend of mine Colleen (HeartmyIS) who just had her pistons replaced Today! Haven't heard from her as of yet. She posted a pic of her getting work done in the "pic of your car now" thread earlier today. Good luck.

I would feel like a part of me was missing if the dealer had my car for a month

I had my whole bottom part of engine replaced after ONE time of it running rough.

I only have 2k left under warranty. I guess if the car makes it another 67000 miles, I'd still be close to 140k which isn't bad.

I find it strange that the dealer is actually replacing just the pistons. I have a ton of friends that work as techs for diffrent dealers and they've told me they usually replace this as a short block instead of just pistons.

This would also make sence to me as the rings would need to be gapped as no two cylinder bores are the same.

There's a whole thread about carbon build up in the 2.5L a few pages down. Some people have had to fight to get the piston job done. My dealer said he was willing to do it, but I had to have some kind of legit complaint complaint before he can do anything. Until then he said to keep an eye out for rough idle.

The replacement of one piston makes no sense at all! At 50k, I'm sure they are going to hone the ****** out of that cylinder wall with the cheap portable one tool instead of actually sending the block to a machine shop. The replacement of one piston doesn't sound very professional coming from a Lexus dealer.

I'm thinking if they do this, they will probably yank the head off, pop the piston out, hone it, measure the rings and drop the new piston in?
