Water Pump and Pulley replacement costs.
I am currently doing the TSB on the carbon build up for my car a 2006 is250 red and 64k miles. I called the service manager for an update, he was giving me attitude but that is besides the point. Basically he said my water pump is leaking and needs to be replace, and my pulley, i believe alternator? I'm not to sure i was talking to him and driving and i ended up losing the call. Anyways, i didn't call him back because i was on my way to work and was late, but he said he will do it both for 600 dollars since the engine is already out. I feel like 600 dollars is to much to replace both since my car engine is already out which should make it a lot easier labor wise to get to the part, and the part shouldn't be that expensive even if it is genuine? what are your thoughts? should i just pay the 600 to do it, because i am a little tight on cash right now. I feel like the manager is just trying to get me to pay something since he replaced my dash board and interior for free because it was melting and cracking, and now he is doing the TSB which is also free right?

If you can get the water pump done while the enigine is out I would do it. Do you have an extended warranty or anything that is able to cover it. Its worth the fix unless you are able to do it yourself since its stupid easy to do

I called the guy and he said it is the alternator pulley he told me it will eventually need replacement but nothing to be overly concerned about. How much does it usually run to replace

The dealer told me the same thing. I didn't get it done
I topped off my coolant once I got my car back and have not had any leaking or any other issues.
This is just them trying to make money... If there is an issue. Get an Indy shop to do it or just DIY.

idk about on the 250 but i just had the water pump replaced on my 350 about 2.5 weeks ago at the lexus dealership here. it was 800 bills :-(
but i needed it badly because the bearings were going bad and it sound like rocks in a soda can when the car was idling. so it was on the edge of no return so i had to eat that one
