Default any help greatly appreciated

I have a 2007 IS 250 with 170k miles, with a new engine at 98k miles. The other day the car showed all signs of a bad alternator and, sure enough, that was the diagnosis. The shop replaced the alternator and the battery. Now, a couple of days later, I started the car and the "Check VSC" light, the traction skid light (or whatever), and the Check Engine Light came on. The car and engine drove smoothly as this occurred two hours from home, and I drove the car back with no incident......no shaking, or performance issues.

I'm wondering if when the mechanic replaced the alternator/battery, they did something that allowed these lights to now come on. Hard to imagine that I've got a whole other separate problem just 48 hours later.....or I hope not. Any guidance would be great, thanks.

When the traction light and the check engine comes on, most of the time it has something to do with emissions. A loose gas cap could cause those two lights to come on. you could check that first, otherwise try disconnecting the negative terminal and leave it off for about 10 minutes to reset the computer. That could fix the issue as well. Good luck and report back.

A "blinking" check engine light is when you have to worry.

Read the codes, If you don't have an OBD2 scanner, most auto parts stores (e.g. AutoZone) will read them for free.

Many things can cause CE and traction off. But it's a minor issue. Nothing to worry about. Most of the time, after a few drives, it will turn off and you'll be all dandy again.

Dont sweat it
