Default Wrote A letter To Lexus Today 2007 IS 250

I have been lurking this forum for years. Its a great place. Thanks To all who make it happen...
I took the time today to write a letter to Lexus addressing the issues Im having with my 2007 IS250. The vehicle is out of warranty so hopefully they have a heart. For over a year I have had problems with radio going in and out. It works during the winter months and then when summer hits it goes out. So here I am another summer without my radio. And on top of that my navigation froze around the same time, so its been a double whammy. I have read many posts here describing the same issues.....This place has been a great help in my quest....now hopefully Lexus will throw me a bone.....but I wont hold my breath....ill keep you updated!

When you say your "radio" went out, does that mean you still did or did not have the ability to used the touchscreen when it was not working? Sounds like what I experienced, which I ended up sourcing a different NAV unit altogether to fix it. Pricey.

Unfortunately, Lexus will not be held accountable for an issue like this. It's a used car, things go wrong. You can replace the UNIT as a whole with factory or aftermarket. Try www.car-part.com for good deals on factory parts that come warrantied. Good luck!

Lol, your issue is just related to what I have today. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ml#post8570079

I believe there is a guy on eBay that might fix the navigation problem. I'm giving him a try. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEXUS-LS-GS-ES-IS-RX-LX-GX-SC-250-300-330-350-430-460-470-NAVIGATION-REPAIR-/181343079138?pt=Car_Audio_Video&hash=item2a38e3cae2&vxp=mtr

The odds are that you will not be helped at all. I attempted to get some help from Lexus USA for similar issues. My entire navigation unit does not work, meaning that I have no control over any climate control settings. The potential safety hazard was of no concern to them whatsoever. I was told that being able to defrost the windshield in the winter months was a "luxury option" not a necessity; I am pretty sure that every car on the dealership floor, has climate control, and it is certainly not something that is just becoming a standard option now. Good luck. I was speaking with Lexus USA and some dealerships for months with no solution.

I do not see why people think they are liable for this. If you wanted extra warranty, the dealership or 3rd party companies offer it for a reason.

Lexus is definitely not liable for this as you're out of warranty but they do have a heart. I can say that because my engine blew on my IS350 at 70,400 miles. They replaced the top half as my rocker arm snapped and broke the side on the valve cover open. The repair was $6K but Lexus paid it. After getting my car back, about 500 miles later, I noticed a knock at a certain RPM, bought it back to Lexus and the connecting rod bearings are bad. They figured it's best to just replace the short block. Repair was $12K and I called up Lexus Corporate and they said they'll look into the issue. A few days later, they said they'll repair it again for free to me as a nice gesture. I was honestly surprised as they footed an $18K repair even though I was out of warranty. A nice gesture like that will definitely make me buy another Lexus sometime again.

Although you're out of warranty, it doesn't hurt to ask them or let them know of you're troubles with the car. For me, I did that and they were nice enough to listen and help me out. I don't know if they will be willing to help for a "minor" issue like your radio/nav but who knows, they might. Good luck!

CHI123, Lexus is definitely a corporation that will participate to help in major issues like they did with your vehicle. But minor wear/tear issues such as a NAV unit, they wont help.
