Default Idle RPM's

Hi All,

I just picked up a 2011 IS 350 and have a question about proper idle speed. To me it seems a bit low when sitting in drive, usually hovers around 600-650 with little to no vibration. When I put it in neutral it sits at 700-750 and the vibration is gone.

I'm coming from a 250 where I had a constant 750 at all times so it's throwing me off.....

Thanks!

Sounds normal to me. Since owning the car, have you had to disconnect the battery for any reason? Doing this will force the vehicle's system to re-learn everything, including your driving style/habits.

It is normal. Its the ecu leaning out the fuel and causing the car to shake. The 350 has 12 injectors compare to the 250 having only 6 injectors.

12? That's news to me as well.....is this why the 250's are so prone to the carbon build up?

My IS350 is like that too. I also notice IS350 shakes a little bit more than IS250 in idle. I figure probably because my IS250 is 6 years younger lol.

^^yup. The is350 has 6 fuel injectors and 6 more direct injectors. The is250 has only 6 direct injectors. Having only direct injectors, the is250 is prone to carbon build up.
