Right. I specifically asked the guy if they're doing the same work that was previously recommended........new pistons, rings, etc.......and he said, yes......said the only thing being changed is the wording of the work order.

But you're suggestion is a good one.

It sounds to me they misdiagnosis the problem. Since the first time you mentioned it looked like Carbon build up.

Something you may want to think about is getting your water pump replaced while they have the engine apart. They shouldnt charge much (if at all) for labor and could save you a headache and some cash down the road. Also, look into replacing your spark plugs if you havent already changed them in the last 60K miles..

Funny you mention that about the water pump.......they just called to say that the water pump is leaking, and they can replace it and charge for me the part only (about $200), and not have to charge me the labor ($1100)

(So, I guess water pump isn't covered under warranty?)

Waterpump is covered under the Powertrain warranty, which expires at 70k miles.

$200 for a new top half of your engine, water pump and labor isnt a bad deal

Yeah, I'm not complaining..........and, I'm trying not to be greedy here, but the cost of the water pump part wouldn't be covered by the CPO warranty?........the same warranty under which my engine is currently being overhauled?

Yes, you are right. It should be covered under CPO. Again, your dealer is a trying to milk you.

What you describe sounds *exactly* like the carbon build up CSP.
