I am replacing my nav screen because there is an open trace on the digitizer 4 pin connector. This causes the system to not respond to touch. Which means I cant get past "I Accept" when starting up the car.
My problem is that there does not seem to be a method of releasing the screen data 20 pin (or so) flex cable that connects the screen to the board that supplies the screen data.
There is a U Tube video where the guy flips up a "Lever" on this connector but my system does not have this lever.
My system seems to have a connector from a different manufacturer.
Anyway, I would really like to hear from anyone who has replaced screens in IS 250 / 350 nav systems.

Thanks for the link.
The picture shows a connector that looks like the one I have. I had the unit apart a week ago and its been put back, my memory is a little faded by now.
The picture shows that a metal screw driver is being used. This is Sooooo wrong.
Anyway, I'll be trying this Sunday or maybe Saturday.

Well I replaced mine with a screen I got n e-bay and it is working fine so far.

The biggest hurtles on this project were the following:
1. Figuring out how to "Unlock" / "open" the ribbon cable connectors. There are two of them.
2. Figuring out how to "Pop off" the front assembly (with the buttons).

There is a u-tube video on this, but of course, it is not complete. It does not give you what you need to do the job, just more questions.

The answer for number one is the following:
The smaller of the two ribbon cables is released by flipping up a plastic lever from the same side of the connector as the cable. The cable comes apart by going UP then OUT. It is "keyed" in a way that locks it into place inside the connector.
The second connector took me about 15 minutes of tinkering. You start by flipping up a thin metal strip at the top middle of the connector flipping up from the opposite side of the connector of the side where the ribbon connects. THEN, push the brown plastic strip that is on the same side as the ribbon AWAY from the connector. I used (forgive me) a jewelers flat blade screwdriver pushing the little "feet" at each end of the piece. Then the ribbon will slide out.
The connector for the light tube with 4 wires just simply pulls out.
And, lastly, the digitizer cable with 4 pins has a plastic piece that you pull out with your fingernails at each end of the connector.

The front cover / assembly is popped off by unlatching the catches on the sides where the upper and lower half sections meet, and removing the 4 screws on each side.
