You dont have to use oem. That is a marketing ploy by all the dealers, its a business so of course they are trained to say that, plus that is the only thing they use so that is the only thing they are aware that will go as tested.
But you are more than welcome to use other brands of course I would do some research before you buy and get something at least better than oem. Now if you are concerned about warranty then I advise going OEM till warranty is out but if you are doing the servicing yourself then it really doesn't matter at that point.
In regards to sewell they are a certified lexus dealer so they have toyota/lexus parts. So go there if you want OEM since you are a CL member!
In Sewell I trust very good price and good customer service. Recently, I bought the rear endlinks for sway bar installation from them for $68 each side + shipping while local dealer quote $100 + tax, i save ~60 bucks there ($30 saving on each x 2).
