Got Side-Swiped
Came out at closing time Saturday night (Sunday morning) to find someone was gracious enough to have side-swiped me in the parking lot. No witnesses and even though a car just a few spaces away had matching damage down the other side the police can't do anything other than treat it like a hit and run. It could be a lot worse so I'm grateful for that. The insurance company is trying to **** me around but hopefully it all comes together easily.
They got the unibody above and in front of the rear tire, both doors, the mirror got knocked around, and the side skirt is pushed in at the rear as well.
My insurance company sent me to one of their contracted repair centers to get the damage accessed and get a quote. The body shop they sent me to is a complete joke. All they wanted was for me to give them the keys so they could start working on it today. When I wouldn't authorize them to repair it and would only let them do the quote; they gave me a quote for only labor in repainting it. They said they couldn't give me a true quote for all the parts that would need replacement until I authorized them to take it apart and start working on it... Funny how the shop near my office that came with good recommendations was able to say definitively that both door skins would have to be replaced at a minimum without taking the car apart. The independent shop quoted at $2550, the one the insurance company sent me to quoted $1500. Big gap there!
Just needed to "vent" a little. Thanks for listening guys.

There aren't any unfortunately. My insurance adjuster is being nice enough to treat it has uninsured motorist rather than a hit and run so my deductible will only be $250 instead of $500 which is nice. Now if I can only get them to actually access the damage.

Had the same thing happen to my first IS. From the front fender to the rear trunk. I was quoted at $1,700 to repair and blend in the whole driver side. Just cause another shop quoted you higher to make more money doesn't mean quality. Price don't dictate the job the person does. As for me my body guy was excellent and it came ou perfect.
