Hi All,

I want to install an oem spoiler that I bought used but I'm worry about water getting into the holes that need to be drilled. How do I make sure that no water gets under the spoiler and in the holes? Do I add a sealant after I tighten the bolts down or before? If I add it before how do I do it so it doesn't cause an issue when I tighten the bolt all the way down? I don't trust only using the 3m tape and took my aftermarket one off that was only held on by tape so the holes will be drilled for the oem just need to know how to seal them properly so the spoiler can sit flush. Any help is appreciated.

I have my OEM rep held on by tape right now. I have been thinking about bolting it down as well. I would think a rubber washer would do the trick. But honestly not 100 % sure.

Why not just use tape to hold it down? That way if you ever decide to go spoiler-less, you won't have any holes at all

Use automotive grade double sided tape. All you need. You will not be able to just yank it out even if you tried. Most of the accessories which are exterior are held by 3M tape.

3M makes some great double sided automotive tape. When I was installing my spoiler I put it down in the wrong spot and I almost cracked my spoiler trying to rip it off. Check out 3M VHB. Nothing is taking your spoiler off after that.

I wouldn't worry about the tape, my spoiler has been held on by 3M tape for the past 8 years without an issue. Same goes with all these people who have the roof spoiler, it's not like they're drilling them into the glass. The tape works just fine.
