Yea i tried. 17k it will have to be if i want it. Of course ill be saving on the use tax(same rate as sales tax) so thats a positive vs buying from a private party elsewhere. That got me thinking about that other things in regards to buying the car. The rear tires will need to be replaced so thats at min a $500-600 job. Also i've been reading a lot about the carbon buildup issue on this forum. I know it's pretty much affecting a majority of the IS250 owners out there and some people have had headaches getting the dealer to replicate the misfire issue, getting the codes, and getting it approved by Lexus Corp for the fix. I know there's a 9 year/unlimited miles for the CSP. This car was bought at the end of 06 so theres a little over a year before the 9 year hits. I haven't driven the car that many times(last time was a few weeks back) and i didn't notice any rough idle or hesitation at stop nor have they said anything about the issue. Do I want to inherit the issue if i buy the car and will i have success getting the dealer to fix it under the CSP if the issue comes up? Those are just some things ive been thinking about.

With carbon it's a hit or miss with these cars. My GF as the 250 we only pump shell v power in it. Since we bought it new in 08 it now has 95k and no carbon issue. Only maintenance cost so far brakes, rotors, oil change and tires. Still on the original shocks riding great.

Well i asked my family member who i was thinking about buying the car off of and he said he never got a CSP letter. I checked out the letter on the CL website and it notes '2006 to certain 2010' have the issue. If they didnt get a letter, does that mean the car is not affected? Wishful thinking i know. lol. I guess i should still worry. Did you guys ever get the CSP letter?

It will still be an issue of concern, whether you got the CSP letter or not.

It doesn;t mean anything if they did got the letter or not. This is an expensive fix after the 9 years expires.(and you are close) I will not buy it if you are planning to keep it for few years. There are better deals out there. Chances for the car to develop that are very high as it's the first year model.

This (major) engine overhaul is certainly covered under the original 6 year, 70,000 mile powertrain warranty. Does the 9 year warranty only apply to repaired engines or is applicable to any IS250?

Well its the second year model since the the car is 2007 but its still affected under the CSP program(MY 2006 to 2010). It was a tough decision but i ended up saying no. Was pretty set on getting it but the carbon buildup issue is not the worth risk especially if i have only a year left to get it covered by Lexus under the CSP program if anything happens. And no guarantee they will fix it unless they can repeat the misfire codes and get approval by Lexus Corp. Too much uncertainty. No rough idle issues with the car right now but im guessing the issue will creep up sooner or later. If it happens outside the 9 year window, that a huge expense(3-4k if not more?) I was planning to keep the car for a while. I think i made the right choice Guess i'll have to look into a 350(350's not affected by this?) or something else.
My question is why does it only affect the 2006-2010 MY? I mean 2011-2013 Gen II have the same engine 2.5L, as does the Gen III 2014 MY.too new still? Isn't this carbon buildup issue eventually going to hit them as well?

All I can say with the 350 base power you'll be happier at the end over the 250.

I also say you get a 350, no carbon build up to worry about and this thing is a beast! I just bought one and it is a perfect car, yea you will have to pay a little more but if you can afford it you will not be disappointed.
