if money is an issue for you, i wouldn't recommended IS-F since it costs a lot for maintenance even thought it's reliable. how about move up to ES or GS? the GS has the same horse power as the IS but with better interiors, so it's a win-win situation.
also, infinity is another good option, too even though its interior isn't as good as Lexus.

I say get the IS F. But I would still go test drive a Cadillac to get $100 gift card.

Believe you just answered your own question. In the event your wife is driving and involved in an incident, this is a huge comfort to know that she WILL be safe.

I drive an IS350 daily, and when I had the chance to drive a G37X for a week...I jumped on it. Problem is, it really wasn't that fun of a car and no "kick-in-the-shorts" punch like the IS350 offers. I'd definitely say pass.

What about a CTS-V?

My vote is to steer clear of the Caddy's. I've gown down that path before, but aside from their plummeting depreciation, there are tons of other known problems that are often model and year specific. It's hard to nail down a good problem free one it seems. If you are considering a G, get the G37XS. Amazing car, fun, looks great and functional. Sorry to say this and break the heart of some of the IS350 owners over here, but the interior on the G37XS is far better than the 2IS. It's better on gas. It has a better transmission overall. And it will pull away from an IS350 stock for stock. Don't believe me, search some videos or go try it at the track.

The current IS350 is paid off, so I have like 25-30k cash to play with for a new car without touching "our" savings... I just really don't want to finance anything but my gut reaaaally wants to check out a Tesla... but that means with only using my "car fund" I would be financing the better part of 40-50k... both my office and condo building have chargers that are free to use, so shaving gas off the list of expenses I currently have could help justify things.

insurance quote on the ISF was actually only $85/yr more... so not too shabby.

Too big. We're downtown Minneapolis a lot so having something smaller for parking sake is nice... and 99% of the time the car has 1 or 2 people in it, the back seat is really only needed for our dogs.

If you are considering a G, get the G37XS
What about a CTS-V?
I will be driving both of these today... I would LOVE the CTS-V, but I would have to finance some of it, so that makes it slightly less desirable.

Tesla , Tesla, Tesla
I say Tesla, !!!!!
but yeah I would give the ISF a shot, should not be as bad as financing the tesla.

I would go with the F or the CTS-V. ES and GS are bigger cars, so they'll handle like bigger cars.

I carpool with my best friend, we switch off cars every other day. He drives a 2009 Infiniti G37S 4 Door with the 7spd AT.

I have to respectfully disagree with your post for the most part except that transmission. The 7SPD Auto in the G37 behaves better than the 6spd Auto in the 350. Ability to hold a gear and revmatch downshifts are nice. As far as reliability of the transmission, it's been not so good. My friend had to bring it to Infiniti numerous times because extremely rough shifts. They have done a couple software updates but it still hasn't fixed the issues.

Interior wise, the 2IS is much more luxurious feeling, the G37 feels more sporty. Quality wise the 2IS feels much better made, materials in the Lexus feels of higher quality overall, the doors close with a heft I found only on German cars. The G37 door feels tinny in comparison. There is misaligned trim in the G37, lots of drab plastics, cheap looking chrome and *****. Don't get me wrong, the G37's interior is quite nice, it just doesn't have that quality feeling you get in the 2IS.

I can't comment on the gas mileage part because my friend drives like a complete maniac and averages 14mpg in his G37. I on the other hand take it easy and can get an average of 24-25mpg in mixed city and highway.

He has BERK HFC's and Takeda CAI intake installed. We did 3 races when I first bought my IS350, bone stock.

From a stop, the IS350 pulls out about a car off the line, it just launches like crazy, puts another car on him through 2nd, and keeps the 2 car distance till end of 3rd where we both shut down.

From a 40-100 roll, IS350 jumps out a car and holds the lead till 100, no gaining on either car.

From a 60-120 roll, IS350 jumps out half a car and holds the lead till 100, 100-120 G37 pulls even and would probably pull ahead if we kept going.

From my first hand experience, the IS350 is faster in all situations under 100mph. If you're going for all out top speed, I can see the G37 pulling away but thats not until way past the legal speed limit, we're talking 130+.

Another good option; plus Audi's quality has been the most improved year-over-year according to the most recent data I've read.
