I am at 60k miles and just made the switch to synthetic. I know the oil will be good to 10k miles, but the OEM filter is only good for 5K. are there any other better oil filters that will last longer then OEM? how often is everyone changing filters? if have to change the filter at 5K i may as well change oil, but was hoping to avoid this. 2009 is250AWD

OEM filters can last to 10,000 miles (and do on the 2011+ models that use the longer change interval).

Do the newer IS's use the same filter? I thought i heard/read somewhere that my OEM filter was only good for 5k. Hmmm...

yeah i think the filters can go longer than just 5k...

i once stretch my oil change interval to 7500 just to try it and see. when the time came for my oil change the oil was still good and the filter was too. neither looked like they had gone that long at all
