Streaming music to stock deck
Hello all! New member here looking to purchase either a IS 250 or 350. I just have a quick question. I want to keep it mostly stock and I don't want to change the deck/head unit but I want to be able to stream music from my phone. I've done some research and haven't been able to get a conclusive answer so hoping to get one here.
My question is, how would I go about doing that? I believe that bluetooth was added in 09 and newer models but I heard that it's only for phone calls. I also know they have a USB AUX port as well. Would I be able to use that AUX port to stream music to the deck? And that's for the newer years, what about the 06-08 models?
Would I have to buy a bluetooth adapter for the older models? And if I get a 09 and above (which is stretching my price range but doable) would something like this https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...sing-a2dp.html be what I need?
Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Awesome, thanks for the link. I'm glad to know that I don't need anything major or don't have to take it to a audio shop to get something installed.

I use the GROM Audio Bluetooth adapter. It is more like an OEM integration so I can skip and replay songs through my steering wheel control instead of having to operate my phone when I'm driving. It also doesn't take up space in my center compartment, which is usually occupied by a ton of crap anyways.

Wow that's something i'd definitely be interested in. Would be great to work it from the steering wheel. I have an android but I'm assuming it would work with anything that has bluetooth?

Thanks for all the replies fellas. Picked up a sweet 07 IS 350 this past weekend and now looking into finally buying an adapter. Is this the one you were talking about Kumquat?

I picked up the USB2P: (http://www.gromaudio.com/store/usb_a...interface.html) . I wanted the ability to use the adapter for a USB stick as well, and the USB port also doubles as a charging outlet for my phone. The one you linked adds an auxiliary jack (our car has one already).
To get the Bluetooth A2DP as well as hands free calling, I have the add-on for Bluetooth (http://www.gromaudio.com/store/acces...eless-btd.html).
If you dont want anything but BT, you can choose the http://www.gromaudio.com/store/bt3_a...e_adapter.html.
I don't have any experience with it, but I would assume it works identical to the setup I have in my car, only it wouldn't have a USB port.
Hope this helps
