It's definitely the alternator. I put a multimeter on it and dc voltage is riding 12.8 then bounces around 13.5. I think I started hearing whining today as I started the car so now I know I only have a day or two to get it replaced. Just got this alternator 1.25 years ago. Hope this isn't frequent. My car hasn't hit 100k miles yet.
it may sound dumb to some users on this forum but if you are not a person who willing to climb underneath your car and do it yourself, buy the OEM alternator from Sewell (using Clublexus discount of course) and take it to the dealer. Labor was only 2.5 hours if my memory serves me right. Best of luck and don't let the alternator go out completely. Mine died 100% and I only had 6 hours from the time it completely died to get it to the dealer.
