Default SOS! Sunroof roof dial acting up

SOS! Sunroof roof dial acting up. Went to my buddys house and had the sunroof open. Arrived at his place and pushed the dial (2006 IS350) to close and nothing. nada. I held the button down for about 10 seconds and it finally closed, but on limited function. Meaning when I let off the dial, the motion stopped.

Advice I am needing:
1--How can I get the dome light/dial cluster off the headliner? I found the two screws in the sunglass pocket, after that I got nothing.
2--WTH could be wrong with this thing?

Thanks CL!
Shawn

Try and reset it:

Press and HOLD the sunroof button from the closed position until it stops moving (Fully open)

Then press and HOLD the button down again until it is fully closed.

That should reset it, and everything should work. It happened to me once

Thanks for posting in GF! Okay, so I tried this. It closed the roof, and the genius I am, held it long enough that it went to "up/vent" position. Now when I push on the dial it tries to go to vent (which it is already doing.)

Nothing happens when I turn the dial to any position and it the glass stuck in "Vent" position.

At the very least I'd reset the entire car to FORCE the sunroof controller to fully reset. Disconnect your battery for 30 minutes and reconnect. See if you are then able to turn the dial to open the sunroof. If not, definitely have a problem; perhaps a new sunroof controller would cure it.

I'll give that a shot when I get home tonight.

Next question: How and the hell does that whole piece (lights/controller) come off?

TIA guys!

Update: works when I push the button in, but have lost all "dial" functionality. So it's closed, just not operating perfectly.

*BUMP* again for removal instructions of the this panel.

Try to reset the sunroof again using the procedures described earlier, while holding the dial in with it set in the closed position. Release the dial when fully closed. Then check to see if it has full function.

I have done that several times. It does not seem to be resetting itself. It's only an issue because my warranty expired 700 miles ago and I am about to sell the car. So damn annoying!

you open the compartment where you put your glasses and there are 2 screws.. Unscrew them and then it is held on by clips. It pops off after that.
