Default Wheel Balancing

I bought a used set of wheels, I went to get them checked on a balancer, however one of the rims was off by 2.00.

The 3 others were off by 0.25, 0.50 and 1.00

Can this be corrected once a tire is mounted or is this rim no good? Thanks in advance!

you should be able to fix it with a complete balance with a tire, but 2oz is a pretty good amount of weight, but should still be ok.. however if the wheels are out of round, then you are out of luck.

Good luck

I'll go get them checked again. At least I know 3 are fine, it's the 4th one of my concern...

Factory, or aftermarket wheels? New or used?

As long as the wheel is not out of round it will be fine. Yes, this will be corrected once the new tires are installed and balanced, the necessary weight will be added to compensate... As a matter of fact once a tire is added it may call for less weight.

I'll have to wait until Saturday to find out where I stand with these wheels. Thanks for the info though!

I went to a local tire shop instead of Canadian Tire where it's kids that run the place... and my wheels are fine.

A wheel without a tire on it off by 2 oz? Either a POS wheel or it's bent, out of round, damaged, etc...

I guess the guy that checked them at Canadian Tire didn't know what he was doing, although it's pretty straight forward how to mount the wheel on that machine.

I went to FCP today, a well known tire/wheel place for Montreal and the wheels are perfectly fine.

And they're 2009 OEM IS250 AWD wheels, which I got for $280, hence why I thought something could be wrong, but they're fine.
