How underpowered does the IS250 actually feel

I just wanna know how many of y'all bought it for the power because it makes no sense, it's a lexus, luxury car, I didn't buy it cause it drives fast ? I like the smooth ride and cursing in it. If I want fast and isf or lfa is the lexus to get if not lexus isn't for you obviously

Ya know ,my budget was $30,000 for my car. I always wanted a bmw.. Found a couple 2006 M5'S for around $25,000 .. Almost made a purchase on one with the same miles as my is250.. I backed off and went with lexus because of reliability, awd for the New England winters, and gas savings .. Do i sometimes wish i had the 500 horsepower M5, sure.. But when I get 25 mpg as oppose to 12 mpg I'm
Glad I went with a lexus.. Besides, theres not to many times out here in the city that I would be able to really open up the Monster anyways!!!!! So how important is speed??? Well, I drive a 200 hp car, theres your answer!!!!!

Most of those M5 owners are selling because they need a new clutch, new brake rotors and pads, actuator issues, and possibly more which at the dealership would cost upwards of $12k and do not want to fork over that kind of money, so your $30k wouldn't actually be sufficient.

Lol misspelled cruising, but I get what your saying a luxury sports car, it's fast enough I mean I'm just saying who bought the is because of speed it's sporty and it's luxury

I think for everyday driving the IS250 is adequate. I moved from a '02 325i to a '12 IS250 and I'm really happy I made the upgrade. I read a lot of reviews saying the 250 is a slouch before buying mine. Once I took it for a test drive, I saw that for my type of driving (I don't drive hard anymore), it would be just fine for me & within my budget.
Coming from a stock '95 DX stick shift, it's a massive upgrade. This will be faster and handle much better. Before I bought mine, I also read a lot of reviews stating that it's underpowered. I think it's underpowered when compared to other cars in its class. But like I say, for a daily driver, it's fine. Go take her for a test ride

Yea honestly i think im going for the IS 250 AWD. yea the 350 would be nice but i drive city only stop and go traffic i think ill be more than happy with the 250 plus the gas money ill be saving. i was driving to work today and was thinking about it, and considering how many times i have to stop and stay idle in traffic or at a red light im gonna go for 250. Now i know some of you here tell me you guys get 19-23 mpg CITY in the 350, well let me tell you im not sure which city your talking about but to me CITY driving means not being able to go more than 3-8 seconds without having to stop for a stop sign or red light or traffic. Because thats considered CITY driving in Chicago where i live. if you guys can get 19-23mpg in the 350 with the conditions i described above then you have a magical car.

I have a 2.5 mile commute to work with 13 stop signs en-route. This is the epitome of "city driving" and I averaged 19.2 MPG along this route in the IS250. Based on your description of your driving I think you could reasonably expect similar mileage.
In comparison, my GS350 gets 16.8 along the exact same route.
IMHO, the IS250 is quick but not fast. It was never underpowered in any situation during 3 years of driving in crazy L.A. traffic. In fact, the 250's more neutral handling due to a better weight bias allowed me to routinely pass faster cars in the corners.

There is no point in arguing about the MPG YOUR driving would get in YOUR city with the routes YOU drive. From the MPG ratings of the IS 250 and IS 350, expect 10% better MPG in the 250.

I got the is250 coming from boosted civics myself. The car is def a snail. It's not worth at all to mod the engine, it's good for looks and snow. If you want speed def get the 350.

Then carbon buildup happened so I test drove an IS350, after the test drive, I made the switch and never looked back. I wish I would have bought the 350 in the first place. Gas mileage really isn't that much different. In the winters, snow tires make the 350 very capable of getting around.

even though the 350 isnt the fastest car on the road, i cant imagine same body and weight, and less power and torque. the 250 has to be a dog and gas mileage is not THAT much better like stated above. im sure as much as i commute to and from work, i would still fill up the same amount of times as i regularly do already realistically
