so you want to know the difference between HID option vs Halogen option on these cars? like is the housing itself different? is that what you are asking?

I was not aware Lamp vs. Light was more than choice of words. Like boot vs. trunk etc.

Normally on our cars you will have a HID headlight and then halogen for the 'brights' I can't think of the official name lol.

The newer cars are coming out with LED headlights.

Yeah, it's really dependent on in what region of the country you grew up in on what you call certain things. I use the word headlamps alot; born/raised in OR. Same thing : headlamp = headlight.

Odd, I thought when I replaced the bulb on my IS350 it was a D4S type.....my IS350 AWD was also the same.

Perhaps what you mean is some come with Halogen?

One goes on your car.

The other goes on your head.

OK. I'll stop playing. It's the bulb. OEM Will use different designs around the bulb technology. If they decide to go with Halogen bulbs, they will either use a reflector bowl or a halogen bulb designed projector.

For HID, they used to make D2R bulbs for reflector bowl designs but the light pattern is better captured and focused in a projector.

thanks guys
so im guessing to bulb is the difference between halogen and HID and the lenses has nothing to do with it ?

im currently running HID's changed out stock for hid, but the reason for asking my lens is kinda discolored and i wanted to purchase new ones, dont have money for 09 upgrade, on swell they have HEADLIGHTS HALOGEN and HEADLIGHT HID they also have HEAD LAMP SET, so i was curious about the difference and y wouldn't they just use one term since its just different ways of calling it

yeah correct.
what im asking is, if i buy halogen headlights the bulb is what makes it halogen, then change the bulbs to HID i would no longer have halogen correct ?

halogen headlights ore cheaper $421.19 for each on sewell, all i need to do is change the bulb to make it HID why not do that instead of paying $1035.12 for HIDs

thats wrong, he was right. The standard HID option, you still have halogen high beams. only people who switch to HID are folks who's car didnt come with HID option which is rarity amongst these cars

i guess the only question really would be are the halogen headlights AFS or not? because if they arent, then yes its different. but if they are stil AFS, then i would get the cheaper option, then just buy an aftermarket HID kit

The difference between the factory hid head light vs the factory halogens are bulb size for low beams, the factory hid head lights has AFS and of course the price
