Default 2006 Is350 won't start after alternator change

Hey guys I finished changing my alternator, and it was a PITA.
But now it doesn't turn on at all. The dash lights and the navi/radio comes on.
It doesn't click, and on the second time of trying to turn it on Check VSC comes up on the display.

Thanks

Nate.

you need to recharge your battery cause when alternator being bad, it cannot supply all electric need to operate the car so your battery become main supply

Oh crap! But you say the NAV unit and all other electrics still work though? Did you have the new battery in with the alternator going out (like I might have happening right now)? If the alternator was truly that bad, it was possibly not charging the battery causing the new battery to be possibly bad now. I experienced this alot in high school with running dual alternators and dual batteries (BIG stereo system = hearing problems in adulthood...mmmmK).

Ill go get my battery replaced and see if that solves it. But I tried to jump start the car, still doesnt crank or try to turn over.

I would check that you installed all the power and ground wires correctly. If it doesn't at least crank, I would think that something is not grounded correctly stopping the car from even cranking. You are getting power because your dash turns on but no crank.

Also if you have a motorcycle or a friend with one, ask to borrow their battery tender. Bring your battery inside and charge it over night and your good.

You may want to see if you can salvage the current one as it is new. But in my experience you should get a new battery and alternator at the same time. Was the vehicle operable when you decided to change the battery?

Also, you should post your vehicle stats when it happened (could help someone in the future)

I have a 2008 IS250 and I also changed my alternator and I'm having exact same problem. But when I leave the battery pack there it will eventually start. When I remove it the car died. The car is at the shop right now. They say they charge the battery and it starts now. I will be picking up the car tomorrow so I will see what they did.

Default Lexus GS 350

I'm having the same problem with my Lexus GS 350. I just replaced my alternator. But now my car won't start! Checked fuses already. Everything comes on, on the dash. Push button start comes on but won't start. Any suggestions

Check your ground and power on the alternator.

There is a good chance you knocked the solenoid wire off the starter. The starter has the main power wire like a 4 to 6 gage cable AND a smaller wire that is powered to activate the starter solenoid. If it loose or not connected, everything would look good but the engine won't crank.

If you track down the starter relay and remove it, then find the wire that goes to the starter you could ohm it out. If open or high ohms, it is not connected. The flip side is with the relay in place and a helper pushing the start button you should feel it click.

Look in here for the location. I'd guess they kept it the near the same but maybe not. "Starter"...
