My IS is at the dealer for the recall. The price includes changing the wipers, fluids, etc.
I talked with an independent mechanic, he will charade $95 to do and oil and filter change and inspect everything to see if it needs anything else.

look at your service guide - have your mechanic do
change the eng. oil & brake fluid and have him/her inspect all the items listed under the 90k mile list of the guide. oil chg = 47.00 usd brake fluid chg = 100 usd. you can change the filters your self for 30 usd. and pocket the rest.
Do not go to the dealer.

you will always pay a premium at the dealer. it all comes down to who you want working on your car. a lexus certified technician who work on these vehicles all day long and who knows the ins and outs. plus oem parts. or you can go to a independent shop and get a guy who may or may not of worked on these type of cars before. mostly they go with aftermarket parts which is cheaper for you and them. parts may or may not be better then oem.

That's way too much. 90k is brake fluid, engine oil + filter, and cabin air filter
Just get them to change your oil + filter. Should cost ~$40 for conventional oil and brake fluid flush ~$120.
Then buy the air filter from Sewell for $15 and DIY.

what he says is true, unless you find
an independent certified shop like these guys http://local.yahoo.com/info-33664201...h?viewtype=map

way to much, all you need is oil/filter change, filters, brake fluid flush. Even with OEM parts you only looking at $125 in parts and then 2 hours max for labor. $300 is reasonable, anything higher than that is a ripoff. All items are pretty easy DIY items. Only semi "complicated" one is the brake fluid but easy as long as you have someone to pump the brakes for you.

Which recall? 250 or 350? I'd have them do the water pump. The regular 90k is not worth paying at dealer for. My dealer charges $350 for a new water pump because it was easier to do once the top end was torn down. That is still too much, but it's Lexus installed so WTHell.
