Key not detected general questions ?
Just a few questions about the key fob
So today I was waiting in the car with just the accessory power and then I left the car to go in the house completely forgetting to turn it off. The key fob was in my pocket. So about 15-20min later I arrived back to the car with the key fob on the kitchen table and my radio and navi were all on...
So my question is why did the car not turn off sense the car displayed key no detected for that long period of time?
How long till it would of turn off if it even would?
Let's say I turn the car on and left to let it warm up with the key fob in my pocket. Could someone just drive with my car?
Thanks for all responds

No, it would never turn off, and yes, someone could just drive your car away.
Yours is a common question on the forum; once the car is started it will not turn off with the key out of range, but once turned off it cannot be restarted.
As to why: You wouldn't want your car to turn off while driving down the highway if the key fob battery was to give out.

Makes sense about the key fob battery. Thanks
Just don't understand why it would not automatically shut off if it was in park and the key was not detected over a long period of time.

I have had a case where, randomly, at a certain location on my school campus, nothing would work. i would try to unlock my car with the remote and it wouldn't open with the door handle either. and of course it doesn't sense the key and the engine doesn't start.. Any one know why that is? could there be something that interferes with the radio communication? the key works everywhere and the battery is good but if I go to that specific place on campus, it doesn't work..

Holly crap.. XDi have been leaving the car running to warm up, then running back inside the house or work place due to the cold XD. I don't want to carry extra starter key in my pocket... XD. I thought without the key in range while the car is on, it will turn off automaticly.. hhmm.
