HELP!!!-CEL code P0894
Received a check engine light today on my way to work...P0894 - Transmission Component Slipping. My car doesn't go past 4th Gear. Does this mean my transmission is shot? I only have 71,000 Miles on my 07 IS350!!!

I have an appointment today. Hopefully they cover it under power train warranty. They extended my warranty to 6yr 100,000 due to the valve spring recall. However my 6yr was over in May. It may also be covered under the federal emission control warranty which is 7yr 70,000miles. Does anyone know how good lexus is to honor service under goodwill?

Reading through the repair manual for that code...doesn't look good. It is a generic code for any solenoid or clutch pack in the trans that is slipping, so I wouldn't be surprised if you will get another code or two to pop up soon with some more specifics...but it will need a transmission most likely.
You are so close to being under warranty, that if you play your cards right and be super nice they might do something for you. Keep in mind they don't have to do a damn thing for you if you are out of warranty, but if approached correctly you can present your case for some goodwill assistance. And that does not mean you will get it all for free either...good luck, hope it works out well for you.

^Yeah, be a good customer and don't act like I'm entitled to this to be fixed for free because you owe me kinda thing. I've seen several cases on CL here were others had passed their factory warranty and Lexus came through with NEW parts and even in one case a NEW MOTOR even past the factory warranty.
GL and post up what they end up doing for you!

It turned out to be the tranny for my car. I called corp lexus and they were able to help me with half of the bill. They installed a rebuild tranny straight from lexus manufacture.

After reading your comment about clearing the code. I bought a $25 OBD2 Scanner "Autel Autolink AL319".
The scanner has a "Clear Code" function. The code was cleared, and the CEL is gone. I took the car on the freeway for a test, and the transmission is working fine. The car has 5th and 6th gear now.
I was so excited with this finding, I had to create an account and post this because this saved me so much money.
Hope it works for anyone encountering this same problem
