Default Timing Cover

Please help, my IS 350 is in the shop for major repairs and I need an answer to the following question. My question is; could the Valve Spring Replacement recall have caused the following condition i.e., a loose valve cover?

According to my car repair technician, my IS 350 has had for quite some time a loose timing cover which let debris into the motor and subsequently damaged the cylinders. I've had the car 2.5 years and no maintenance has occurred which required pulling the engine, transmission and AC unit.

Looking through the vehicle repair history on Lexus.com the only service which "potentially" seems like maybe the valve cover was touched was the Valve Spring Replacement recall.

Please help.

Thank you

My timing cover was "seeping" oil and my car is a 2010' @40k mileage. Talked to the SA at longo lexus.. seem to be a common problem with the 2is. I was under warranty so it was free of charge. Would of been $3000+ without the warranty.. due to 15hr+ labor to do the job.
I would take it to a lexus dealership and let them inspect it.. to see what they have to say first. GL

You do know that the timing cover and the valve covers are two different things, right? Well, about the question...yes, it is totally possible. BUT, can you prove that it was the dealership that left the V/C loose? I really doubt it. I wish I had better news for you, but it is what it is. The burden of proving that the dealership is at fault here would be on your shoulders.

Immediately after my VVT cam gear recall was completed I checked the engine bay for oil leaks or misplaced items. Luckily no oil leaks, besides the oil dropped everywhere during the V/C uninstallation. Plus quite a few of factory plastic clips not reattached. Fixed it all and have still been monitoring the engine bay for leaks...all is good.

GL!
