Default VVT gear recall info

Heads up for all you IS350 owners , my 2006 is350 had catastrophic engine failure from the bolt coming loose and shooting through the engine while driving the car. Did $11,000 of work to top of engine and THEN this recall came out with the exact description of what happened to me. even though i had all the gears replaced i still had to do recall service and now i will get FULL refund.

DO THIS RECALL AS SOON as you can !! I firmly believe this recall stems from the Grinding noise many owners were getting at cold start up for years that dealer could never get to happen when cars were there for the problem !! they finally figured it out and are fixing an important situation. Im glad none of you had your engines just BLOW up the way mine did that june evening . good news is my baby runs as good as new and is pretty much like a new engine after all the work they did to it......

good luck to you all !!

I hope nothing happens to my car before I get the recall done. :sad This will be the second time they will be fixing this. My local dealership doesn't even have an ETA as to when the parts will be in stock...

So I did my VVT actuator gear recall about 2-3 weeks ago and car runs the same before recall was done. Yesterday I pull my car out for a wash, while doing so I found a small puddle of oil in my garage floor. I wiped the oil off and see no signs of oil today, so I thought could it be the loaner I had was leaking? Anyway, today I jack up my car and find no sign of oil on the floor, but my bottom of car is oil wet, no signs of dripping, and it's not leaking from my normal drain plug. I check my oil level and it's exactly half way of my oil level dips stick, so for sure I have lost oil. Does anyone know if this VVT recall work will cause an oil leak? I did my oiled change 500 miles before I dropped it off for recall, now 1000 miles later problem occurs. Please help and advise....

Sewell lexus couldn't be easier to use. Just put in your model and year and then search for spark plugs. My local dealer wanted $29 per plug but I just got them off sewell for $11.50 each

I am scheduled for 12/13 and was told it will take a few days (not 1 day). Glad he penned me in. He was talking about later in DEC.

the spark plug change is done at 60K or so it says. But i've read on the forums people going to 80K and what not with their spark plugs. I checked in with my dealer, going to do the recall on a LEXUS IS250 2008 -- or at least a fix. They will charge me about 150 to put my spark plugs in, I would supply my spark plugs.

I saw someone on here saying their dealership would charge them 70 bucks. I'm contemplating on going to a trusted mechanic or doing it right with Lexus.
