Unhappy recent incident & repair..

hi all,

so i just got my car back from dealership today, it's been there for the past 2 weeks.

incident 1: i was driving down the street then all of a sudden my exhaust became really loud, and the ride became really bumpy and shaky. check engine light and traction light came on. took my car in the next day and dealership said it was caused by spark plug #5 cracked. they replaced it for me, problem solved.

incident 2: very next morning same thing happened again - loud exhaust, bumpy and shaky ride with the check lights on. i had to pull off to the side on the freeway, shut off my car turn back on, then car was fine again, but check engine and traction light remained on.

incident 3: next day i started the car, same symptoms again - lights on, loud exhaust, shaky ride. then 5 minutes out the door my car shut off in the middle of the street. it remained off and wheel locked for quite a while. finally i was able to start it briefly and pulled into the near by parking lot and had it towed to the dealership.

at first the dealership said the (quoted from summary) "valve spring was split upon inspection". the dealership then submitted a case to corporate, whom "advised dealership to tear down engine for further inspection. they proceeded to remove oil pans and timing cover also valve cover, one part removed found a broke valve spring on intake side of cylinder #5. Finished service recall and replaced intake valve spring , place engine back together"

i thought it was scary how my car would just shut off. dealership stated this was not due to the recall issues. any inputs would be greatly appreciated. i just don't know if i can still drive reliably in my car anymore i asked about possible buy back or trade assist, but i think they will just do it based on current mileage and condition of my car, nothing extra. (my car is 2010 2IS)

and of course, thanks for reading

Personally, if such events took place, as soon as I got the car back I would have lost all trust in the thing. I'd end up selling it for an IS350.

His statistics show it is an IS350. I don't see 250 anywhere?

eta - "2010 2IS" means a 2nd Gen IS correct? So it could be a 250 or 350 if not stated.
I'm new here. LOL

This reminds how my engine blew open when my valve spring got dislodged and snapped off a rocker arm. I don't know why your engine shut off cause I kept going on the highway to work with oil leaking onto the street and with the engine smoking.

Either way, hopefully it didn't cause any other internal engine damage. When the fixed my top end of the engine, my connecting rod bearings went bad the same day I got the car back, and I ended up with a new short block. Now I've put 2K miles on the motor and so far so good.

In chi123's case with the new motor, I'd be satisfied with that. But to me, it all started going wrong when the spark plug broke/cracked. That usually happens on high-compression motors when something hits the plug itself...aka, the piston. I would have asked to see that plug to see if it looked like the piston hit it. If it did, there's something wrong with that rod/piston.
