I, myself also want to buy an Is 250 too. I have learned a great amount through the club lexus forum. What I have learned from many people on this forum is that you should ask the seller for the Vin number and see the maintenence record to give you a little better information on the car.

You say Lux Pkg--does it have a rear sunshade and memory seats? If not, then it doesn't have Lux Pkg, just stand alone wood grain. If your seller is trying to convince you it has the Lux Pkg without those features, he may be asking too much.

Beware that the fuel economy is no way in hell true. It's more like 22/28 to that AWD.
One thing I would be worry beside the carbon build up is the Nav screen who have a high failure rate.

i recently purchased a 2006 IS250 RWD Blk/Blk with Navigation 100k for $11.7 in Florida. Basically everything besides the memory/heated seat and wood grain.

It also depends on location of the car as to what the market value is. My car had a thorough vehicle history with their local Lexus dealership and the exterior was 9/10. I think I got a pretty good deal.

does it have HID with AFS?
Does it have the shark fin antenna?
does it have fog lights?

These things didnt come on a lot of IS250 in 2006 which is why i waited for the 07 to get released.

Why would you want a shark fin antenna? My '06 IS350 didn't come with it and I'm SOOOO grateful it didn't.

I picked up my '06 IS350 with 110k miles with luxury package (rear shade, memory seats, illuminated door sills, navigation, hids with AFS, etc etc) all for only $13.5k about 8 months ago.

'06 only had a shark fin if you actually had sat radio. All US spec 2nd Gen IS's have fogs.
