just spoke to corporate. they said there are 2 recalls where 1 superceeds the other and they have yet to find a remedy.
i wonder if that parts list will change, or if it is the updated parts list.

Pictures always help:
The "Timing Chain Cover Gasket" that is included in the recall is the tensioner access window gasket. Because the chain has to come off of the gears the tensioner is removed to allow slack in the chain. The recall is performed WITH THE TIMING COVER IN PLACE. So it won't fix any prior oil leaks from the timing cover.
The actual gasket that is between the timing cover and the engine block is FIPG (form in place gasket). It is a black silicone sealant. When the timing cover has to be removed to be resealed it is a lot more work involved. Step 1 of the procedure is REMOVE ENGINE. Some dealerships got creative and were able to have brackets machined to hold the engine in the bay while the SUBFRAME holding the STEERING RACK, SWAY BAR, and OIL PANS are removed. again none of this is apart of the recall it is how we reseal the timing cover , but all in all it is definitely more involved than what this recall entails.
HOWEVER, what is done in the recall could be considered 1/2 of the labor it is to reseal a timing cover because you have to remove the top end components and the only thing that is left is the subframe...etc.
I hope this helps clarify what and how these repairs are performed.

Not sure what other recall they mentioned, but the only active recall with the cam gears is the DLG. No further plans to change or enhance this recall are in place at this time. All dealerships were made aware of the DLG on SEPT. 4th when it was filed with the NHTSA. ???
Here is the number to corporate if anyone wants to contact them directly.
If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact the Lexus Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-255-3987
Monday through Friday, 5:00 am to 6:00 pm, or Saturday 7:00 am through 4:00 pm Pacific Time.
the letter posted referencing the D2G is the preliminary letter when the remedy has not been released, however at this time the D2G changed to the DLG indicating the recall remedy is available.
D = year recall released
L = recall status (1 filed, 2 preliminary (customers notified), L - repair phase)
G = number of recall (a=1 b=2.....so on.)
So maybe that is what they meant DLG supercedes D2G.

rattle - yes
strong enough to cause bolts to back out - no.
same goes with the GS450H - yes its the same but the start speed is slower so it isn't a possibility to cause the bolts to come out.

Just got my car back from the dealer for the recall. No noise so far and it runs fine now. They also found that my water pump was leaking so they replaced it and flushed the radiator.
While they were in there I decided to change my plugs since I'm just below 60k, they gave me a discounted price of 190 including the plugs.
I'm happy so far, let's see how soon it will be before another recall.
Those of you that are going to take your cars in remember that they will fill your tank so don't fill up.

I will call corporate tomorrow and clear the issue of one recall superceeding the other.
I'll be getting my water pump replaced but will wait to get the recall performed. Thanks for all the info !
