IS-F Motor & Tranny Swap into ISx50! The real deal
#65
Thanks guys.
From past builds my gut tells me to get everything up and running and then install the Greddy S/C...I'm not sure just yet!
Front support with radiator/condenser in place. Fits great except the right (passenger side) fan motor touches the lower engine water outlet pipe. If Toyota would have made the fan motor flatter like the driver side it'd be perfect.
Sooo I need a "flatter" fan motor for the one side. There's a lot of ways to solve this but it looks like a new fan assembly would be the easiest.
Clearance pic w/fans removed as I start to measure for a solution. Not a good shot but there's ample space!
Damn fan motor, look at it sticking out! Why couldn't it be on the left side lol

Its been a while since I did anything major on this swap but I did spend 20hours on TIS gathering and interpreting every wiring diagram, etc. for the F, 250 and 350.
Why? I was planning to repin all of the underhood fuse boxes/relays to get the motor working as there are several differences in relay layout and the way things are wired under the hood. I will provide great detail on this later when I have time to formalize it since I have all of the information and know how.
What it entails is the "engine room main wire harness" as depicted in one of my earlier posts. There are two ways to account for the differences:
1. Repin the IS350 harness to match the ISF and its added plugs (A57, A58, A60 just to name a few).
OR
2. Buy 82111-53D30 from Lexus for $2,567.xx!
IMO, this is the make or break of the swap in terms of know how and $ invested. I got extremely lucky and sourced this part from a scrapped ISF. I called countless connections and none of them can get this part second hand as it is usually badly damaged or immediately neglected/cut by unknowing salvage yards as they begin to "part" the car. Also, lets face it, salvage IS-F are just down right tough to come by as well.
Anyway, I was able to source the engine room harness from the F and I am extremely happy! I may end up repining a 350 harness as well just for R&D since I have a spare on hand and it would greatly benefit anyone that may do this swap in the future.
That's it, this is the best news I had all month thus far. LOL
