I just got my car back from getting the Carbon issue fixed, and was wondering if anyone would be able to help me decipher the invoice? I am curious to know what each of these things mean specifically. I can make some of them out, but figured someone may have more info than me.



Everything is fine with the car except for these things:

1. Only the Driver's window will go up/down from the Driver controls
2. Check VSC came on tonight

Will be calling them in the AM.

The problem with the windows problem is an easy fix, covered in our FAQ sticky, and was caused by them disconnecting the battery.

You say that "Check VSC" came on. Was that with the check engine light?

1. roll down your windows
2. roll them all the way up and hold for 2-3 second

I may be confusing the two... Check VSC along with a Red ! comes out at random times.

So they replaced the pistons, piston rings, valve springs and their related parts, gaskets, and did they replace the oil pan or replace the gasket for the oil pan?

Is there anything I should do at this point, or just drive the car like normal? I did notice my mpg is better. Got 30.5mpg on the interstate yesterday.

You also had the water pump replaced too!

If the VSC light was not on when you took the car in, the repair place should not have given the car back in that condition.

It is entirely possible that the light will go out after you've started the car several times. That is, the computer will come to grips with what it's correct state should be.

Take your car back, and have them put a scanner on your car so they can clear the DTC's if they didn't whack something while working on your car.

The Check VSC light was coming on when I took it in.

Thats wierd they replaced my water pump too bc it was "leaking"

Techincally the best method to break-in a fresh rebuilt motor is to maintain a load on the motor and no long periods of time with constained, constant speed. You can successfully break-in a motor in 15 minutes, if you simply find an empty scretch of road and accelerate quickly and then decel using sport mode and the paddles. If you have a manual trans, use the trans to "engine brake" yourself. Do this for about 15 mintues straight, you'll be golden!

Well, most Lexus owners have never rebuilt a motor/trans like I have; so such procedures are unheard of really. But I'm glad to help others with the knowledge I've gained over the years.
