Wheel locks don't really work on the eager thieves that want your wheels bad.

Wheels Shops have taken off many wheels with wheel locks when car owners lost their keys, and thieves can do the same.

All people have to do is find a socket with a slightly larger diameter than your locks and hammer it in... then voila!!! Free set of wheels.

The best locks are ones that turn freely when locked. I remember reading it up on here somewhere. The free turning locks prevent brute force like the method I mentioned above. Only way I think to defeat that type of lock is take a power drill into the stud and screw in a by-pass bolt. But this will be a very painful thing to do since it makes a much more noticeable noise.

Thieves rather whack a socket into the lock and remove it... quicker, easier, less noisy, and cleaner.

Sorry to hear do you know how it happened? Is your driveway sloped? Did they jack it up? Was it on blocks?

KYO-EI Dency 2000. I have them and they would work a lot better than pretty much any other wheel lock out there for the reasons that shadowman posted.

That guarantee by Rimlox is pretty good though, but I'm just not sure if you can bank on it. Anyone know how much a set of locks from them costs?

Rimlox is bull****, it's no different than any other locks when the thieves have the key. Having 2 sets of locks is pretty safe and will slow them down. The more lock sets the longer it will take them and they might just say **** it and go for an easier target, that's the game. I torque my locks anyways, no problems here. I'd highly recommend getting at least two sets of lock lugs that are different brand and shape and size to make it obvious and time consuming. Mcgard ones are the easiest to crack off with a socket (I won't say what size socket) so if you have tuner sized locks and mcgard, they require two different sockets, unless they have the key but not as likely as having a socket or special lug removal tools (which also require two).

I'm wondering what locks did you have before? Did you just get a set of tuner lugs? Many shops will tell you they are locks cause they require a key that fit over the lugs but they are NOT locks cause they pattern is universal and every wheel thief has that key.
