Funny, my car did an awfully loud cam rattle upon start-up after work today. Immediately thought of this thread. LOL!

I got 3 letters from my dealership about recalls.
The recall numbers are Dla and Dlb. Is this the wiper fix?

I don't know why it's just a big fuss about the recalls. From my experience, recalls does not really affect me. Every time I go to dealership in Fremont for only the oil change, they would check to see if there are any TSIB or recalls for the car. Dealership would fix the recall or TSIB together with the oil change. If the fix is long hours, I would get a coutesy Lexus loaner for free and they don't even charge me the gas for it even though it stated in the receipt that they would charge $5 a day. And at least a couple instances, the dealer gave me free tank of gas after the recall. I have never went to the dealership specfically for the recall or TSIB. Not sure why it is a problem for some people. Maybe Lexus of Fremont offers better service compared to others? I do choose Fremont because they do a a much better car wash than Stevens Creek (my other option for dealership). $65 for oil change and hand car wash of exterior and vacuum of interior and trunk if requested, why not.

Not everyone takes their car into the dealerships for regular maintenance.

Default The difference between Lexus and Bmw

I have been too busy to check clublexus out in a while but my extended warranty is about to run out in October and my car has had every recall the 06 IS350 had. I recently took my car for the cranking noise (2nd time) but the dealership claim it was the speedometer cable and they replaced that and the gauge housing in the dash. I did note on my satisfaction survey that it made that cranking sound again. Unfortunately you never know when it will happen again and they need to hear it themselves. I have been trying to record the noise with my cell phone when I start the car but no luck so far. It has been elusive. I used to own a 98 M3 and that was my first and last BMW even though I stayed as member of the BMW club for a few years after that. Now my 06 has had more problems than my 98 M3 but I have bought 2 more Lexus since my 06 that I still own. Yes, I have issues but Lexus has taken care of the problems and I always get a loaner car, and that is why my wife currently drives a hybrid CT. It is slow and funky but 43 miles to the gallon. Lexus also gave me a $1,000 dollar voucher that I used to lease the 2011 IS250 convertible. Yes, poop happens but with Lexus on occasion I have come out ahead. With my M3 it was a money pit. I can take my Lexus to any Toyota dealership for maintenance and save some money. With BMW so many of the parts are proprietary. To me Lexus is a better buy but I do miss the M3 handling and I could not talk my wife into letting me spend the money for the ISF. I like the new IS350 but I will wait a couple of more years before I buy it. Just to make sure they get the kinks out of it

What does Lexus do for out of towners that have a long drive to the dealership? Do we get a loaner for the week?

I kept the htc hybrid loaner for a week and when they called me on Friday, I told them I would bring the car on monday,.Not a problem. I do have to say that it did not use to be that easy to get a loaner before. I bought my car at a different dealership and would only give me a loaner if they were going to keep the car over night and they wouldn't know if that was going to happen until they looked at it.

For any of my recalls that took over 1hr of my time I've been given a loaner with ZERO issues. But of course it can differ from dealer to dealer. Hopefully with a pre-scheduled appt to have the issue resolved and a loaner on-hand, they'll have no issue giving you one, no matter the distance.

GL!
