I just ordered my grill for around 50 bucks. My only concern is where the emblem will be, it seems to be hollowed out, instead of there being an L shaped mold behind it. Will this be ok when installing the emblem?

Yeah, it fits perfectly... I painted it with a dupli-color spray paint, in a factory toyota color called magnetic gray metallic. The color is a charcoal gray color with metallic flakes. I put on 3 coats paint, then 3 coats clear, no primer needed... I'm very happy with the outcome. Go to auto zone, or the like, and pick out a color that you like. You'll be pleased with the results. No sanding required either, just paint n clear.

Thanks man. I actually read this post after I bought my duplicolor paint, I was looking for the honda metallic color that other members used, however I believe I bought the same kind that you did. It stood out to me the most, and after 3 coats, it looks MEAN!! im gonna clear coat it today, just kinda nervous about taking off the emblem and reattaching it to the new grill. any advice??

btw, i used 1000 grit paper and sanded all 160 diamond grooves... it sucked..

Just use some 3M tape to put the emblem back on

The emblem comes off pretty easily, just gently pry on the bottom side with an old credit card or a plastic putty knife. Try not to use a screw driver or anything metal it may scratch or bend the emblem... Like Bob said you can use 3m tape. Clean all the old residue off the emblem, then cut the tape into small strips and place on the back of the emblem. Its 2 sided tape of course so leave the backing on one side of the tape. Once you have the tape strips positioned on the emblem you can remove the remaining backing and install onto the grill... Or you could use an adhesive type silicone. Good luck...

Btw : I Cant believe you sanded the whole grill, I skipped that step and went straight to paint lol

what I notice is that the is-f style grills on ebay have a little more spacings between the honeycomb design compare to the oem ones.

I would imagine the ebay one is made of a cheaper plastic than oem especially with the price difference.
