Default aftermarket sub and amp with stock head unit?

Looking to upgrade my sound system. No ML but looking to add more bass with maybe a 12 or 2 12's. Can i still use my factory head unit? Will it have enough power to supply? Will I need to buy a new amp? What size amp should i get? Any of you who have a system please give your input, thanks.

Yes, you will need a Line Output Converter. You will splice it into your rear deck speakers and thats what you will plug your RCA's into. Its that simple.

You still need to run an amplifier. the factory amps dont have enough power to push anything bigger. you will probably have to catch the speaker wire for the factory sub at the amp near the pass corner of the trunk. i took out my factory sub so i attached my line out there. Your setup depends on what you want. Im running a JL1000/1 with a 12w7.

Ive got the same setup, but a JL10w7 with a JL 500/1 Slash V2. I use to have a JL12w6 in rhinolined Ocbon box. The 10W7 with an Obcon Freak series box sounds way better imo. I took it to Traffic Jams and they installed it for me, they tapped into the stock woofer line with a line out converter to hook up the rca cables for the amp. Two years running strong with no problems.
