Default Always Look Twice for Motorcyclists

A FSU tight end survived hitting a 2IS. The Lexus driver was cited for being the sole cause of the accident and basically failing to yield to the right of way.

This serves as a good reminder for all of us to double check for motorcyclists.

I agree we need to look twice for motorcycles, but motorcylists also need to know they don't own the roads...

Sorry to say this but motorcyclists in Bay Area are just idiots going in and out of lanes. I'm always aware of them but they just stay too close to other cars asking for trouble during stop and go traffic.

That bike as moving way too fast. Look twice, yes but you can almost tell that he driver probably looked twice and there honestly wasn't someone there at the time.

Speaking as a gearhead and a long time bike rider a lot of bike accidents are caused by the biker. Granted most people don't look out for bikes, but in the end it is the rider who has to be prepared. You cannot ride a bike like you drive a car. You have to look way out in front of you on a bike. Most don't and a fair number of them also take ridiculous chances. I watched one friend not pay attention in front of me and end his life on the tail of the dragon in Tennessee.

I was mainly a dirt guy and raced bikes from the time I was 5 until I was 25 moving from dirt to eventually road style. Three acquaintances ended up paralyzed for life and every one of them would tell you it was their fault for doing something stupid. I eventually gave up and stuck to sports cars and muscle cars. The street was just my cup of tea.

I agree I rewatched that clip about 10 times but the 2IS driver also seemed to be getting out really slow too.

link to police report: http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/29...724_153730.jpg

it cites the bike as speeding and potentially riding erratically, but no witness accounts. Lexus at fault

that bike shoulda saw him from so far away....

if you drive a bike you are responsible for other people stupid mistakes such as you would in a commercial vehicle.

always assume people are idiots and don't know how to drive. assume people DON't SEE you, and aren't anticipating that your splitting lanes, etc. especially if on a bike.

That's the Lexus drivers fault. He pulled out in front of the bike. He wasn't even speeding. Sad to see.
