i still agree with the OP, the dealership is ruthless man.. i had to get a nut off of my ball bearing bolt, and could not, so they wanted to charge me 800 dollars to replace the whole upper control arm, my buddy fixed it for 50 bucks. guess i cant complain too much due to the 7500 dollar engine rebuild they did for free.

whats exactly wrong with your rotors that you need to replace them? You dont have to buy shims you can reuse them, you dont need that brake fitting kit. Buy some brake cleaner and anti squeal grease

if they are thick enough, save your money and just change the pads. The DIY on IS350 brakes is so laughably easy.

http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums...mum-thickness/

According to the 2007 Lexus IS Repair Manual, here's the following specs:

For 2GR-FSE:

- Minimum disc thickness is 27.0 mm (1.063 in.) on the front and 16.5 mm (0.650 in.) on the rear.

As was mentioned earlier, you might not even need new rotors OR new brake hardware. If anything, start with just new pads and re-lube everything. The front brakes on the 350 are a cake-walk really.

Nice I am going to order the parts today...

I guess I might as well get my spark plugs done too. What parts will I need to complete that?

I'm not sure why everyone here is so surprised? This is how dealerships make their money.

Rotors are optional... if your rotors are in good condition ( free of uneven wear, warp, etc..), then you can use your existing rotors.

I didnt get the front brake fit kit when I upgraded to IS350 BBK, I doubt this is needed. You can re-use the pins and spring clips. I would just get the shims to prevent squeeling and the low dust brake pads.

For the price of Lexus rotors, you can probably buy a set of powerslot rotors on eBay for less. And that included free shipping.

You can use the search function... I remember there is a post on a DIY to change spark plugs

I would think the cars they sell is how they make their money. if service is the only way they make money, were in trouble.

They make their money on used cars and service. Just like independent shops desire to make a profit, so do dealerships.

The profit margin on selling a new car is pretty low.

Anyone know where I can get a passenger seat belt the female side. I'm in San Diego called the dealership and they quoted me at about $800 installed.
