'06 IS 350 Nav Screen not responding to touch
First off my car is kept in a garage and is Tungsten Pearl--- I read the black IS's seen to have a greater failure rate of the touch nave screen. Here's my issue. Got in my ar yesterday to do some errands. The "Select Language" screen that pops up every time I start the car pops up. TIS time the touch screen is non-responsive. I have some computer monitor wipes, so I tried using those on the screen, no difference. I saw the thread on here about fixing it yourself. I have ZERO (!!) mechanical aptitude-- other than maybe changing a tire or the most VERY basic vehicle maintenance. The DIY fix that was one here is WAAAY over my head. I never had an issue with the touch screen prior to last night. The side buttons still work, but the screen itself is unresponsive. Are there any other fixes-- like rebooting the system somehow.? I restarted the car several times and still no response. Right now a $1200+ fix is not something I can do. Any suggestions. And the car is way past dealer warranty. Car is in in mint condition, but still it's an '06 with over 125 K on it. Thanks.

You might try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes or so to reset the ECU. If that doesn't work you might try ejecting the CD-ROM disc from behind the clock and seeing if it won't reboot. Failing that I see a trip to the dealer because there isn't much else you can do.

Unhooked the battery and after the system re-boot problem was still there. I'm screwed, $1200, $1500+ is WAAAAY to rich for my blood right now, especially on something that is not essential to keeping the car on the road. And me not having ANY mechanical aptitude makes a DIY completely out of the question.

if the unit displays correctly (not blurred or and back up camera works and buttons on the side chage menu but just actual screen does not respond to touch) then its the digitizer and not any fuses. you will have to buy just the screen you can find on ebay for about 350. there is a thread on the how to DYI ill look for it later and post. yes it is due to heat so try to leave sun roof cracked open and invest in a windsheild sun shade.

its a piece of cake to just replace the screen. Follow the guide and you can get it done. My screen stopped responding too and I just swapped out the screen for another.....or did I fix that screens wires? I forget, but either way isnt a big deal.
Save yourself the money and try to fix it.....its already broke right? how can you break it more?

06 ISDriver.... I am probably the LEAST mechanically inclined person you'll ever meet. Unless it something a 3 year old can do, it's probably over my head. And since I have to take the unit out and there's probably more to it than just snapping a piece of plastic into place, I don't want to destroy my dash and interior doing it-- I'm not the most patient guy in the world.

Uda, that might be a plan, found the screen part of it online for $280. Not sure how easy it is to just plug in and go. Gotta feeling there's more involved than just snapping a new screen on....

If you are not mechanically or electronically inclined, perhaps a local car audio installer could help with this?
