Default TPM : LOW TIRE , But they aren't !

Hello CL members

Starting from a week ago , 50% of the times I start the car in the morning it gives a low tire warning.

my tires are filled with nitrogen and the pressure is between ( 35-38)PSI in all of them.

Keep in mind that the system would show the same message if it lost detection of one of the sensors !

this my indicate a low TPM sensors' battery right?

but how to replace the battery and how can I know which one needs a replace before opening the tire ?!

thanks

As far as I know batteries are not replaceable, there are a few sets of TPMS sensors in the classifieds right now. http://www.tirereview.com/article/86...batteries.aspx

Did you check the pressure in your spare?

spare tire does not have a sensor. its a compact donut one.

I would recommend to check all tires when they are cold like in the morning after car sits over night. after you checked them and made sure its 35 psi front and 38 psi rear, you have to reset the TPMS light by using the buttons on the left side of the steering wheel. hold the reset button until the TPMS light flashes 3 times then let go. after that don't turn the car off for at least 10 mins.

But if it's a bad sensor battery, wouldn't the warning be on constantly?

well, if it were a bad battery in a sensor the tire light would flash for maybe a minute then stay solid.

seems like a PIA diagnostic to find out which sensor is bad. depending on how old the tpms sensors are, it may be time to replace them.

its kinda hard to diagnose without scan tools, but Lexus / Toyota dealers can do it probably within 5 - 10 minutes. All they have to do is add about 10 lbs of air to each tire and let some out and a scanner picks up the signal as the air is being let out.

First off what year is the car? tpms battery life is 5 - 7 years. if it were a battery problem then it would completely stop working or it would be intermmitent which is what it sounds like. Batteries can not be replaced, sensors can.
the first thing to do is go to a place that can do a dtc to determine what the problem is. If it is a battery problem you may want to replace all 4 sensors if they are old.

Wow. Wondering how washing the car fixed it...

My car did that from day one. Always the right front gave off the signal. AND it was always low. Nothing in the tire to cause it. So one day after I drove it kind of rough it stopped.

I think that the tire bead wasn't seated properly and that's where I was losing air. Good thing nothing bad happened.

I don't think so. I'd expect a "CHECK SYSTEM" message, not a "LOW TIRE" if a sensor was bad.

As Panda said, no TPMS on spare.

Hope it's off for good, but my expectation is that one of your tire pressures in marginal, and that the light may come back on the first chilly morning.

Hi

I have the LOW TIRE light on all the time now.

I believe it has something to do with washing the car.

It has been on for 3 weeks now and I can't figure out where is the main unit or which sensor is defected :\

!!
