Question Max tire stretch on 17 inch stock wheels

Dear CL members,

Just want to know what is the max rubber size I can fit on my stock 17 inch wheels without rubbing / rolling my fenders ? I want a staggered setup on my rear wheel drive 2010 IS 250/ 300.

Currently my car is riding on the below tire size.

Front : 225 / 45 / R17
Rear : 245 / 45 / R17

I remember someone telling me a long time back that I can go max as per below without any modification or problems, Someone please confirm this or can I go further above it.

Front : 235 / 45 / R17
Rear : 265 / 45 / R17

A staggered setup works best when rims are different sizes otherwise tires will look out of place.

you will not need to do any fender work but as far as the sizing ask your local tire store if thos sizes will work on the rims.

Well I will have to do with just the 17 inch Rims I have currently. I can only change the size of the rubber.

Oh I didn't know that wheel Rims have different widths for the same size . I was under the impression that all wheels differ only in sizes like 17 inch , 18 inch etc. and the widths remained the same.

Also mine are still the stock wheels.
