My power steering module on my 2006 is250 recently got fried.

My mechanic wanted $900 for the module plus $188 for installation. I bought a module off eBay for $100. I looked under the battery where the module goes and it looks like it is “plug and go.”

1. Are there any concerns/considerations that I am missing?
2. Does the module need to be reset?
3. Should I take it to the mechanic and pay for the installation, or just do it myself?

I am not very mechanically inclined, but this looks pretty basic.

You made the right choice not paying $900 for the module. List price is ~$625, with several places online selling it for less than $500.

Is the module you picked up on e-bay used? If so it should be plug and play. You should get it calibrated after you install it, which should cost less than $188 at a dealer. Have a look through this thread about calibration: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ering-ecu.html

Do you know why or how your ECU "got fried"?

Another Lexus owner offered me a jump when my battery died and he had the cables on backwards. I made the mistake of assuming he knew what he was doing.

Since were on the power steering topic i have a quick question. there's a little 1 inch sidewalk/bump at the end of my driveway. When i back out of my drive way and turn my steering wheel as I backup. As i hit the ledge at the end my car steering wheel jerks abit to the side. It feels like the power steering goes out for a split second. When im driving everywhere else theres no other symtoms. Is this a sign that my power steering is going? is there something I can do?

Or is this normal? my parent cars and my other cars didnt do this
