Default Transmission Shifter Noise

I wanted to know if anyone else has this same issue and/or have gotten it fix. Whenever I start my '08 IS250 RWD, and go to put it into any gear from P to D or P to R or R to P, you can hear the clanking as if something is slapping up against something else. It is a metal to metal noise. Car has about 58k now. Anyone experience similar noises?

You only hear the noise putting it into Park or out of Park? Does it do it when the engine/trans is cold or hot or both?

I get that when parked uphill going from P to R occasionally & D to P, IMO just try to be gentle with the **** & it will be less loud ive learned. Nothing drastic just a little less loud.. as far as being worried about it I dont think its doing any harm most cars do that when shifting if you listen close enough.

I don't have any noise when shifting from P unless I'm parked on an incline. Try putting your car in neutral first, bury the parking brake, take your foot off the brake, and then shift to park.

I agree with putting the parking brake on if on an incline. My driveway has a steep incline. One time I forgot to depress the parking brake and I did have a clunk when I put the car into reverse.

The stress on the transmission is much less with the parking brake on if on a hill

The problem is that the transmission mounts are wearing out. Needs to be replaced.

If he's correct it's covered under the powertrain warranty.
